For Kommos, the publication of the monumental Minoan buildings (Shaw and Shaw 2006) has been followed by that of House X. This comprises two volumes: first the architecture and stratigraphy of the complex (Shaw and Shaw 2012) House X at Kommos: A Minoan Mansion near the Sea Part 1: Architecture, Stratigraphy, and Selected Finds and then the pottery, which covers the period from LMIA to LMIIIB (Rutter 2017). The study of the ceramics is a substantial contribution to understanding the historical development of pottery production and consumption at the site, and complements the extraordinarily detailed previous studies; it also adds to our understanding of the functioning of the complex throughout its long history.
